Trips and Visits

Providing a broad and balanced education is at the heart of Boundary Oak. We pride ourselves on the variety of trips we offer to pupils and all that they gain from them.

Annual residential trips and camp-outs

  • Year 3 Tile Barn – Two days and one night at Tile Barn living in bunkhouse accommodation, catered, learning to work as a team and to grow their independence.
  • Year 4 Open skies  – One day and one night under canvas playing team games, singing campfire songs and experiencing life in a ten-person tent. Catering is a mixture of an open fire, BBQ and dining hall.
  • Year 5 Runway’s End – Three days and two nights at Runway’s End, living in dorm accommodation, catered, continuing with teamwork skills and independence growth, but also pushing their limits with high ropes, caving, rafting, and abseiling.

  • Year 6 Living with nature Two days and one night under canvas, learning how to set fires, cook on embers and flame, forage for food and prepare game for cooking. Catering is open fire.
  • Year 7 Calshot Four days and three nights at Calshot Activity Centre. Internationally renowned facilities from the velodrome and dry ski slope to huge climbing walls. Pupils experience individual thrills and challenges, while also being pushed on their problem-solving and team skills. There is also a day of field studies looking at geographic coastal processes and marine ecosystems.
  • Year 8 Who dares wins! Survival challenge Two days and one night in alternative self-prepared accommodation, learning how to filtrate water, forage for food and medicines, prepare game and a variety of open fire cooking methods.

Outdoor Challenge & Adventure

  • Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award January to September with a two-day expedition in the South Downs in April/May.
  • Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award January to October with two three-day expeditions in the South Downs and New Forest in April/May.

World Challenge international expeditions: In partnership with World Challenge, two-week expeditions with an educational/ecology project are planned to take place every three years. These are open to Year 9-11s who have two years to raise money and prepare for departure. These are planned to take place in July after GCSE examinations.

Overseas Opportunities

Boundary Oak offers a range of fantastic optional trips abroad which pupils can join from Year 4 and above. Age range depends upon trip. Overseas trips include:

  • History trips to Ypes and Somme, Belgium as well as Krakow in Poland.
  • Bi-Annual Ski Holiday
  • Euro Space Centre, Belgium
  • Spanish Surf School and Water-sports Holiday
  • French Chateaux Trip
  • New York Art Exhibition Trip
  • Iceland
  • South East Asia school exchange opportunities
