Boundary Oak School hosted our annual U11 Rugby Sevens tournament, where local schools gather for a friendly rugby tournament and the chance to win the tournament cup, shield, plate, and bowl. This match report was written by George L and Charlie H:

The first match was Boundary Oak vs Churchers and within the first minute we had scored a try. It continued to be a close game through to the finish with try after try scored, but the score just turned to Churchers’ favour.

“At the start they were very good, we just wanted to work on keeping it going.” Mr Mathias.

In the second game, Boundary Oak played Dorset House. Off the first play Sebastian B made a stunning run but unfortunately it ended in a tackle. Then Jago L ran through their line to score a try. Despite this try Boundary Oak still lost to the team that went on to the competition for the cup.

The final match for Boundary Oak in this pool was against Great Ballard. Boundary Oak proved to be very good at holding up Great Ballard: at one point in the game we held them up for about two minutes. Despite this we still lost with a close scoreline.

Amazingly, Boundary Oak then went on to the competition for the bowl!

The first bowl match was played against HCS. The match began by Henry T making an impressive run to get well into their half, but they managed to defend and mount a counter attack. Tau M then made a magnificent tackle to stop a try being scored. Sadly, the match wasn’t in our favour. HCS was our toughest game yet.

After a two-match gap, Boundary Oaks’ next game was against Sherborne House. Soon after the kick, we made an impressive run which helped William M score a try. After that, Tau and Sebastian worked together to score another remarkable try. It was an extremely close game with a final score of 2-3. “Our best match!” said Mr Mathias.

Our last game of the tournament was against Meoncross. It was very even until William McI made a wonderful run from the halfway point to secure a try. As Meoncross went on the counter attack, Henry P made a cracking tackle to save us from conceding. With tries from Henry and Sebastian, we pulled a victory out the bag to finish the tournament on a high note.

Everyone gave their best efforts to make the school proud.

A big well done to the Boundary Oak U11 Rugby team! You can take a look at photos from the tournament here.
