Outdoor Learning at Boundary Oak

Fostering a love of nature and the outdoors

Senior pupils continue the unique Outdoor Learning Journey to self-discovery that they began in Pre-School.

These journeys are an exciting blend of academia, co-curricular activities, trips, and residentials throughout each pupil's time with us. The entire experience means individuals uncover passions, interests, and desires through various character-building experiences. For Seniors, this also means the opportunity to complete their Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The DofE is a popular activity for pupils at Boundary Oak. All pupils in Year 9 are encouraged to complete their Bronze DofE. The award is in four parts:

  1. Volunteering
  2. Physical recreation
  3. Skills
  4. Expedition
Completing the award requires commitment, perseverance, and a huge amount of teamwork. There is no clearer demonstration of our 7Rs than the astonishing 1,200 hours of volunteering completed by our DofE pupils!

Those who enjoy the Bronze award (or the sense of achievement that comes from completing a challenging expedition) can complete their Silver award in Year 10.
