Senior School curriculum
Small class sizes and strong teacher-pupil relationships underpin the Senior School experience.
The Senior phase is full of academic purpose and exploration of avenues for the future. Your child will enjoy a fulfilling, tailored education that will develop their intellectual curiosity, freedom of thought and expression.
Boundary Oak pupils follow a two-year programme of study in Years 10 and 11 towards GCSEs or IGCSEs. Most pupils will sit exams for between seven to nine GCSE subjects.

Subjects
All Senior pupils learn the core subjects of maths, English and science.
Pupils enjoy a varied academic progrmme, with co-curricular activities and trips supplementing the curriculum. Each pupil also enjoys five hours of sport per week.
Our teaching staff represent some of the best in their field, and the strong, supportive relationships they build with pupils mean we can expertly guide them through their choices as they enter Upper Senior School.
Lower Seniors - Years 7 and 8
Pupils in Years 7 and 8 study the core subjects of maths, English, science and languages, plus humanities, creative arts, outdoor learning and ample time for sports. Pupils try each of the three languages (Spanish, French and German) during the first term of Year 7, before choosing their preferred language to continue with during their Lower Senior years.
After two years of enjoying the richness and variety of our Senior School timetable, pupils at the end of Year 8 will take forward two subjects from music, drama, art, DT, outdoor learning, food and nutrition or a second language into Year 9.
Upper Seniors - Year 9
In Year 9, our pupils study the broad core subjects of maths, English and science, plus their choice of two subjects from drama, art, music, food, DT, outdoor learning, humanities, and their chosen language.
Year 9s also have rotating courses in finance, entrepreneurship, public speaking and photography (each lasting 8 weeks).
We carefully guide Year 9s to select their GCSE options, ensuring as many opportunities and career paths are open to them as possible.
