A reflection of our core values

At the heart of our school culture lies the Kindness Counts campaign, a core element of our community ethos. It is deeply woven into our everyday interactions, inspiring us to live by the values of kindness and empathy.

In November, we joined many of our fellow Globeducate schools in celebrating Kindness Counts Week, a proactive and uplifting initiative that serves as a positive alternative to 'Anti-Bullying Week.' This week focuses on the belief that kindness is the foundation of all actions and words, aligning with Globeducate's mission to nurture compassion and understanding in every child.

The week kicked off with Kindness Counts assemblies, where pupils of all ages were encouraged to engage in acts of kindness. They were reminded that kindness doesn’t always require grand gestures—small, thoughtful actions can have a profound impact. From there, the week’s energy only grew stronger. One of the highlights was Odd Socks Day, where pupils wore mismatched socks as a playful symbol of their individuality. The event celebrated the unique qualities that make each of us special and reinforced the importance of embracing our differences. This fun tradition served as a powerful reminder that kindness, respect, and compassion help to build a more inclusive and supportive community.

The week culminated in the Whole School Painting the Town Pudsey Yellow for Children in Need. This annual event, historically organised by our Year 11 prefects, was a true success thanks to their creativity and leadership. This year’s ‘spotacular’ day of fundraising featured an exciting range of activities, including a glitter stamp and face painting station, a goalkeeper challenge, and a basketball shoot-out. With the theme of ‘Making Life Lighter,’ the event was a perfect embodiment of our commitment to kindness—demonstrating how a community can come together to spread joy and support meaningful causes.

Reflecting on the week’s events, Mrs. Caruana, Head of Personal Development, remarked, “I loved witnessing our pupils engaging in the activities held this week and it provided a wonderful opportunity to see our through school in action, seeing our eldest pupils working with our youngest peoples to achieve a common goal. Kindness is at the heart of everything we do at Boundary Oak and we strongly believe it is not just an ideal to celebrate for a week but a cornerstone of daily life – embedded in our relationships, our learning and our actions. Whether it’s holding a door open, picking up dropped litter or simply saying good morning, it’s the everyday acts of kindness that build a strong and respectful community.”

As we look back on Kindness Counts Week, it’s clear that the spirit of kindness is alive and thriving within our school. This week has reminded us of the powerful role kindness plays in strengthening our community and helping each individual feel valued and supported. By embracing kindness in all its forms, we continue to build a culture of care that empowers pupils, staff, and families alike to make a positive impact on the world around us.
