Boundary Oak School is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Special Award for Creativity in the 2025 ISA Charity Champions Competition, supported by The Event Academy, for our pupil-led initiative Buzz for a Cause in aid of the Honeypot Children’s Charity.
The award recognises the ingenuity and heartfelt effort behind our giant tea party event, which celebrated young carers and their families while raising an impressive £482.22. More than a fundraiser, Buzz for a Cause was a whole-school community effort—driven by our pupils and supported by a wide range of co-curricular clubs. Contributions included crocheted bees from the Crochet and Sewing Club, carved wooden bees from the Carving Club, bee-themed pots from the Ceramics Club, honey cookies from the Cooking Club, 3D printed bookmarks from the Computer Science Club, and beeswax candles made by the Eco Warriors using wax from our very own school beehives.
As part of their prize, Boundary Oak has also secured a £100 donation to the Honeypot Children’s Charity.
Claire Derrick, Principal and Founder of The Event Academy, praised the initiative, saying:
“It’s heartening to see young creative talent emerging in schools. Congratulations to everyone who participated – including the teachers who mentored the students through their journey.”
Mrs Savage, Head of School, added:
“This achievement is a wonderful example of our 'Kindness Counts' initiative in action. Kindness remains a cornerstone of our community ethos, deeply embedded in our PSHE curriculum and daily life. Our pupils actively engage in purposeful acts of kindness that make a tangible difference—from supporting local initiatives like beach cleaning and visiting nursing homes to helping new pupils settle by being great buddies. 'Buzz for a Cause' beautifully demonstrates how leadership and compassion come together when young people are empowered to take the initiative. We’re incredibly proud of their impact."
This award is a testament to the creativity, compassion and leadership of our pupils, who continue to live out the values of service, collaboration and community that are at the heart of Boundary Oak.
