Pre-Prep at Boundary Oak

Pupils aged 5-8  (Years 1-3) enjoy a rich learning experience that encourages their innate curiosity.

The atmosphere in Pre-Prep is that of an extended family, where children are confident in being themselves and exploring new things as they grow in independence and gain strong foundations for Prep (Years 4-6).

Learning approach

We teach a broad curriculum that engages children as the protagonists in their own learning, encouraging them to ask questions as they explore the world around them. Ample opportunities to get hands-on and regular outdoor learning experiences help to approach key concepts in a variety of ways.

A typical day in Pre-Prep

Our Pre-Prep day begins with a warm welcome from the teachers between 08:15-08:30, and ends with hometime at 15:30.

The day is thoughtfully structured to support both learning and well-being.

  • Morning break at 10:10 is a chance for pupils to relax and recharge
  • Lunch at 12:00 provides a wholesome and nutritious meal to fuel the afternoon
  • Afternoon break at 14:30 is a refreshing pause before the final lessons of the day. n

Years 1-2 build upon the strong foundations established in Reception. They continue to develop their phonics and Motor Mover skills, complemented by subject-specific lessons encouraging academic curiosity and physical development.

Year 3 pupils take a step toward greater independence, diving deeper into subjects, laying the groundwork for a smooth transition into Year 4.

Beyond lessons, children enjoy weekly assemblies, a broad range of clubs, and fun themed activities like Top Maths Tuesdays and Word Wizard Wednesdays, making each day engaging and rewarding.
