Early Years

Welcome from our Head of Early Years

We’re delighted you’ve found us and can’t wait to welcome you into our vibrant and nurturing Early Years community. At Boundary Oak, we believe that children learn best through play—following their interests, exploring their passions, and discovering the joy of learning.

In Early Years, play is not an optional extra—it’s the work of childhood. Through play, children develop essential skills in a powerful, meaningful, and fun way. Our child-led curriculum lays the foundation for their educational journey, inspiring a lifelong love of learning.

Our carefully designed Early Years environments spark curiosity and ignite imagination, offering resources and activities that encourage exploration and creativity. From Pre-School to Reception, we use an ‘aspirations’-based curriculum, where every activity is thoughtfully designed to weave together essential skills and competencies, all while feeling like simple, enjoyable play.

Embracing the Great Outdoors

We love the outdoors and believe in giving children the freedom to move, explore, and grow. With doors wide open, children can choose to take their learning inside or outside as they wish.

Physical development is a key focus at this stage, so we encourage running, jumping, climbing, swinging, and digging in our dedicated outdoor spaces.

Every week, we spend at least one morning immersed in our wonderful woodland. Children enjoy unstructured play alongside engaging activities such as fire-lighting, sawing, and wood-splitting with our specialist outdoor learning team.

Specialist Lessons and a Well-Rounded Curriculum

Even in Early Years, children are introduced to specialist subjects like PE, French, music and outdoor learning, taught by dedicated teachers. These sessions are tailored to match the children’s interests, making learning engaging and relevant.

We believe in a strong sense of community, and our dedicated teachers play an essential role in supporting your child’s development. We follow the Keyperson approach, with three key groups, ensuring that every child has a trusted adult who knows them well and can guide their learning journey.

We’re passionate about creating an environment where children feel safe, inspired, and ready to explore the world around them. At Little Acorns, learning happens naturally through play, and we are here to guide and support your child every step of the way.

We look forward to sharing this special time with you and your child as they begin their adventure with us at Boundary Oak.
